Dr. Angelina L. Yap grew up in the suburbs of San Francisco, CA. She attended the University of California, Davis where she received a Bachelor in Chemistry. After graduation, Dr. Yap moved to Ann Arbor, MI where she earned her D.D.S. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She then continued her education at the University of Texas, Houston Dental Branch where she received her AEGD (Advance Education in General Dentistry) certificate.
Dr. Yap completed a two year hands on clinical orthodontic program from the Academy of GP Orthodontics. She is also studying to receive her Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Yap understands patients’ anxiety associated with dentistry. She has extensive training in conscious sedation to help provide a comfortable experience for her patients.
Dr. Yap is an active member of the American Dental Association, Greater Houston Dental Society, Texas Dental Association, and Houston Asian American Dental Society.
In her free time, Dr. Yap enjoys wine tasting, traveling, running, going to dinner with her friends, spending time with her family and son Aiden.
Dr. Yap is fluent in Chinese.
Dr. Maria Astrid Urrutia grew up in Calgary, Canada. She has been involved with the dental profession since 1992. Dr. Urrutia worked with her father, who is a prosthodontist, as a dental assistant throughout high school and college. She graduated from the University of Calgary, Canada obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree with Distinction. She went on to graduate from the University of Alberta in 2004 with her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Dr. Urrutia pursued to further her dental education by attending a postgraduate program, Advanced Education in General Dentistry, at the University of Texas in Houston, which she completed in 2005.
Dr. Urrutia has been involved with the Seattle Study Club, the American Dental Association, the Greater Houston Dental Association, the Hispanic Dental Association and the Texas Dental Association. She is also a certified Invisalign provider. Dr. Urrutia is bilingual, fluent in Spanish and French, and is very compassionate as a dentist. She is known by our patients to be an honest, caring and gentle practitioner. In her free time, Dr. Urrutia enjoys travelling, spending time with her daughter, Juliana, having dinners with friends and family, and swimming.
Silvia is our dental assistant here to help with all your dental treatment needs. Silvia graduated top of her class from CHCP (The College of Health Care Professions) and has been part of our Pure Smiles team since July 2014. Silvia is originally from Reynosa, Mexico, but moved to the USA in 2008. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her spouse, pets and family. She also enjoys the outdoor activities such as target practice and fishing. She frequently traveling outside the Houston area to visit family. Silvia is also fluent in Spanish and English.
Carolina is our Patient Access Representative. Originally from Laredo, Texas, Carolina recently relocated to Katy to be closer to friends and family. After only moving back to Houston a week, she joined the Pure Smiles team as our Front Desk Coordinator. Having five years of insurance sales experience, Carolina decided to embark on a new journey in the dental field. Now, Carolina has been in the dental field for over 3 years, she enjoys patient interaction and broadening her overall professional experience in dental administration. In her spare time Carolina enjoys spending time with her two kids and family. She also like to travel back to her home town whenever she gets the chance. Carolina is also fluent in Spanish and English.
Anajetsy (or Ana) is our Patient Care Coordinator. She is a native of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and has lived in Houston for over 13 years. She has been in the dental field for over 8 years and is here to help with any scheduling, billing or insurance inquires you may have. Providing the best customer service and being attentive with the needs of our patients, is Ana’s main goal here at Pure Smiles. When Ana is not at work, she dedicates her time to finishing her Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management. She also enjoy spending time with her family, traveling, cooking, baking, weight lifting as well as training her dogs Tony (a Chiweenie) and Diesel (a Cane Corso). Ana is bilingual in English and Spanish.
